Are you looking for the ultimate challenge? Together with some of your colleagues, family or friends you can enjoy a weekend away in beautiful Cornwall, and be active for a good cause as well! For the 4th time this year S4S UK offers you the opportunity to run in the Classic Quarter 2017. This ultra-marathon spans 44 miles from the southernmost point, to the westernmost tip of Cornwall along the legendary South West Coast Path. The steep climbs and descents reward you with stunning views of the coastal path and the swells of the Atlantic Ocean. You can run in teams of 4, a duo or be brave and run the 44 miles solo. Be quick, there are limited spaces available!
It was the 3rd time that S4S participated in the Cornwall Classic Quarter; by now a well-known ultra-marathon by our supporters. This year we saw 19 runners completing the 44 miles, amongst which one duo and one solo runner! Congratulations to all the runners, especially Ian who did an amazing job running those 44 miles all by himself! And of course, also this year their support team was huge! Together the runners raised £2,185 which has been used to support a wheelchair basketball team in Zimbabwe and the development of an adapted physical activity handbook for children with disabilities in Botswana. A big 'thank you' for everyone who competed in the event, supported the runners or was involved in any other way. See you next year!
Last year a group of 8 S4S supporters travelled to Zimbabwe to visit the projects we support and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of this country. The most pure and beautiful ‘off the beaten track’ parks and cultural sites have been visited and were combined with some exciting project visits. The group had a chance to interact with the children, caregivers and teachers who are involved in the programmes. They recall: "We remain in awe of S4S’ inspiring approach to improve the lives of these children and their families. They bring hope in the lives of the children."
This year S4S UK participated for the second time in the Cornwall Classic Quarter; a 44 miles relay race from the southernmost point, to the western most tip of Cornwall, along the legendary South West Coast Path. This year we had 29 runners participating in 6 relay teams of 4 and 5 ran the 44 miles on their own! The runners were accompanied by a big group of supporters. It was a beautiful day out by the coast and it was great to see so many people actively involved to support our work in Zimbabwe. Together they raised £5,082.95 which is an amazing result by a fantastisc group of runners. We would like to thank all the people who made this event such a success.
In 2014 17 runners joined S4S UK in the Classic Quarter; a 44 miles non-stop relay race from the southernmost point, to the western most tip of Cornwall (and England), along the legendary South West Coast Path. It was the first time S4S UK organised this event and we were overwhelmed by the teamspirit and the fantastic results of the runners. This year we saw four relay teams of four and one solo runner participating for S4S UK. Together they raised over £3,042.65. An amazing result. Thank you to all the runners and their supporters for your great committment.
